In Outlook on your computer
- New Outlook: go to Settings (the cog), then Accounts → Automatic replies. Classic Outlook: go to File → Automatic Replies.
- Switch automatic replies on.
- Tick the option to only send them during a time period, and choose your dates, so it switches off by itself.
- Write your message. You can write a different one for people outside your company.
- Save.
In Outlook on the web
Go to Outlook on the web, then Settings → Mail → Automatic replies, and follow the same steps.
A good message says
- when you’re back,
- who to contact in the meantime, with their email or number,
- and not much else: it goes to everyone who emails you.
Going on holiday? Don’t forget your phone too: send your calls elsewhere while you’re away.
